Skateboard Assault Suspect Nabbed by Pacifica Police

Pacifica resident Brian Ward, 24, was arrested Wednesday for felony assault with a deadly weapon among other charges.

The investigation by Pacifica Police to find the man who assaulted a driver with the "deck" of a skateboard after a minor traffic collision last April came to an end Wednesday.

At approximately 4:45 p.m. Pacifica Police apprehended the suspect, Pacifica resident Brian Ward, 24, for felony assault with a deadly weapon, misdemeanor hit and run after a vehicle collision, and driving with a suspended license.

Police began the investigation April 27, 2013, after they were dispatched to the Fairmont Shopping Center on a report of a victim that had been seriously injured after being struck numerous times in the head and face with a skateboard.

Ward allegedly attacked the driver after a traffic collision on Highway 35 near Hickey Boulevard.

While the victim was obtaining his insurance information from the glove box after pulling into the Fairmont Shopping Center shortly after the collision, Ward reportedly attacked him with the skateboard.

There was a female passenger in the suspect's vehicle.

The duo fled in a blue four-door sedan.

The case was investigated over the next several months by the Pacifica Police Investigations Unit. A suspect was developed in the case, and an arrest warrant issued.

Ward was booked into the county jail for the warrant obtained in this case.
