The Senior Services department of the City of Pacifica was founded in 1988 and is a subset of Pacifica's Department…More of Parks, Beaches and Recreation.
The center features a card and game room, a ceramics room with two kilns, a computer lab, a quilting room and a barber shop, open every other Monday, where seniors can get their hair cut by appointment.
Any of the members of Senior Services may also sell crafts, jewelry or clothing they make, in the gift shop. Part of each sale goes to support the center while the rest goes to each seller as commission.
The center also offers a variety of classes, support groups and games to its members, including yoga, aerobics, music, creative writing, grief support groups, jewelry making, stained glass making and bingo. Computer literacy courses are also available for a small fee.
Pacifica's Meals On Wheels program is run through Senior Services. Call the center for more details about volunteering for the program or receiving Meals On Wheels.
In addition to funding received from the city, the center raises money through sales throughout the year, and a standing stock of artwork and antiques for sale in the lobby of Pacifica Community Center, where the center is housed.
