Opening Night for Spindrift Players’ “Social Security”

"Social Security" was first performed in 1986 in a successful year-long run on Broadway starring Marlo Thomas, Ron Silver, and Olympia Dukakis. Like so many classics, however, this touching and funny show has stood the test of time. The show takes place in the trendy New York apartment of David and Barbara Kahn, who are successful Manhattan art gallery owners. Runs through Nov. 24, weekends, and two Thursday night performances, Nov. 7 and 14, at the Pacifica Spindrift Players Theater, 1050 Crespi Drive.

Meet at the Pacifica Community Center to learn some history. Gaspar de Portola and his expedition were the first Europeans to see San Francisco Bay. They saw it not from a ship but from Sweeney Ridge in Pacifica. Then hike from the top of Fassler Avenue up to the "Discovery Site", about 2 miles uphill with (hopefully) beautiful views of the coast (assuming it is not foggy). Sponsored by the Pacifica Historical Society.
