This Week: Raise Funds for Spindrift Players Theater, Wreath-Making, Stephen Johnson Photography, and More

Monday

Planning Commission Meeting

On the agenda: use permit to install nine AT&T cellular antennas, site development permit to construct two three-story condominium units and extension of permits to convert 170 existing apartment units into condos on Gateway Drive. The Pacifica Planning Commission meets at 7:00pm on the first and third Monday of each month at the Pacifica City Council Chambers located at 2212 Beach Boulevard on the second floor.

Tuesday

Study Session on Draft Communications Plan

An informal study session to discuss the Draft Communications Plan.  Starts at 6 p.m. at the Pacifica City Council Chambers located at 2212 Beach Boulevard. The Communications Plan has been developed to improve the relationship between the City and the community by effective communication and education on community issues, proposed by then Mayor pro tem Len Stone. The plan is in response to an important community value identified by the Council: Key Dynamics between the City and its People.  

Wednesday

Parks, Beaches & Recreation Commission Meeting

On the agenda: Special presentation by Pacifica Shorebird Alliance on Snowy Plovers at Pacifica State Beach, poet laureate appointment and dog park update. The Pacifica Parks, Beaches & Recreation Commission meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:00pm in the City Council chambers located at 2212 Beach Boulevard in Pacifica. The commission meets at 5:30pm in the PB&R conference room for study sessions, usually on the second Wednesday of the month. 

Friday

Annual Madrigalli Market

Madrigalli Market is an Art and Handcrafts sale. Music, wine tasting and tasty treats along with 17 artisans selling their handcrafts. Mark Sessler and students, from The Green Room will entrain. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Spindrift School of Performing Arts.

Art Guild of Pacifica - Galleria

Art Guild of Pacifica will hold it’s annual Galleria this weekend and next. Fifteen artists will be opening their open wall studios, as well as all  the artists hanging in the Salon Show and featured in the Gallery Store, to offer you a wide variety of affordable art just in time for the holidays. 

Golden Bough, Christmas in a Celtic Land

Golden Bough returns to present a joyful Celtic Christmas concert. Margie Butler, Paul Espinoza and Kathy Sierra will perform rare carols from Ireland, Scotland and Wales and bring us plenty of Olde World cheer in celebration of the winter season. Some members of our audience include this concert as a part of their annual Holiday Celebration.

Holiday Tree Lighting

Join your friends and family to celebrate the annual lighting of the community holiday tree at 5:30 p.m. it'll be an evening of fun, featuring the Cabrillo School 4th and 5th Grade Chorus, refreshments and a visit from Santa. This annual tradition has continued since the 1990s.

Shop the Elf Market, Pacifica’s very own unique craft fair, 6,  6 to 9 pm and Saturday, Dec. 7,  10 am to 4 pm. Shop for holiday gifts handcrafted by local artists and community organizations. Make a gingerbread house and visit with Santa at Santa’s Workshop, Saturday, Dec. 7, from 11 am to 2 pm, co-sponsored by Oceana Market. For $5 at the door, kids get to make a gingerbread house from scratch and using real frosting. Also, kids can do a holiday craft and visit with Santa.

Saturday

4th Annual Charlie Brown Tree and Wreath-Making Event

The Pacifica Land Trust invites you to come play in nature, kick off the holidays and enjoy the 4th Annual Charlie Brown Tree and Wreath-Making event. While you enjoy the holiday carolers, hot cider and refreshments, Charlie Brown trees, white elephant surprise gifts, hiking, planting, singing, and decoration-making, consider supporting the Pacifica Land Trust.  

Sunday

Spindrift Players' "Raise The Roof Campaign" 

Pacifica Spindrift Players presents an opportunity to literally Raise The Roof. All proceeds for this event will go toward the Spindrift Players' "Raise The Roof Campaign" to help rebuild their theater. Performances by Tom Stafford and The Totally Tom Cats for an evening of great music and general fun.

Local Crafters Holiday Boutique

At Florey's Book Store, do some holiday shopping. Stop by and check out hand made crafts by local crafters. While you're here, find that perfect book for someone on your list.

Holiday Open House at Stephen Johnson Photography

Check out the new 2014 Pacifica calendar by Stephen Johnson Photography at an open house which will include raffles, discounts and hors d’oeuvres. At Stephen Johnson Photography at the Pacifica Center for the Arts 1220 Linda Mar Blvd. Pacifica.

3rd Annual Rockaway Beach Tree Lighting Ceremony

The Merchants at Rockaway Beach and the Pacifica Chamber of Commerce will host another spectacular tree lighting. The event will run from 4-7 pm. This is a free event that people of all ages will enjoy. Pictures with Santa, ponies, a tree lighting, face painting, a bouncy castle, lots of music, refreshments and more. Several Rockaway Beach Merchants will be open for business as well. A free cable car will transport those parked at the Pacifica Community parking lot to and from Rockaway Beach.
