Where to Donate Care Package Items for Soldiers Far From Home

This Veteran's Day weekend a group of volunteers in Pacifica will pack care packages for deployed troops, and they could use your help with donations.

A group of volunteers and vets at the American Legion in Pacifica will be gathering on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. to send care packages to military troops serving overseas.

If you would like to donate or know a group who wants to collect items, the group is in need of snack items such as: beef jerky, peanuts, fruit roll ups, gum, individually packaged assorted nuts, breakfast bars, canned tuna, Crystal light powder packets for their water bottles, sunflower seeds, tootsie pops, small packets of baby wipes, shaving cream, shaving razors, liquid hand sanitizer, Tylenol/Advil, nose drops, small packets of Q-tips, stick deodorants, toothbrushes, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, white athletic socks, batteries (size AA and D) and playing cards.  

No glass items or pork products are accepted.  

All items must have a future expiration date.  

Bring your donation to the American Legion Hall at 11 a.m. on Saturday or drop your donations off no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 at City Arms Gun Shop, 90 Eureka Square #D in Sharp Park. 

To make a tax deduction monetary donation to help cover postage, you can send a check to American Legion, 555 Buel Avenue, Pacifica, CA 94044. Please put the word  “CARE PACKAGE” in the memo section of your check.
