Pacifica Beach Coalition Parties on the Point

Nearly 100 people show for the group's first fundraiser.

The Pacifica Beach Coalition threw its first fundraiser Saturday night: a party at the well-known house of Jennifer Ball and Mike Varney near the peak of Pedro Point. 

Guests at , as the event was called, were treated to some light, lounge-y jazz performed by the Ace Cameron Jazz Group featuring Susan Watson, plenty of hors d'oeuvres, drinks and a raffle.

The Pacifica Beach Coalition hosts regular cleanups around town in creeks and on beaches, and holds an annual at Linda Mar.

Admission to the event came in the form of a voluntary donation. In all, 90 people RSVP'd, said Margo Meiman, the Pacifica Beach Coalition member who organized the event. 

The inspiration for the party, Meiman said, was the victory celebration thrown by the group that helped pass , the 's parcel tax increase and extension.
