'One Million Pennies' Needed to Fund Critical Youth Programs in Pacifica

The Boys & Girls Clubs of North San Mateo County need help to raise $10K to invest in children in the local community.

Boys & Girls Clubs of North San Mateo County launched this week their “One Million Pennies” campaign, which runs through the month of November.

The idea behind the campaign is that one million pennies (or $10,000) will fund critical programs for kids and youth in South San Francisco and Pacifica.

Donation canisters will be at local businesses in South San Francisco and Pacifica, Boys & Girls Clubs’ bingo games, and at each of their five Clubhouses. Each canister (filled with only pennies) raises approximately $50, and local businesses are being asked to match the $50 contribution.

A $50 donation can buy homework supplies for five kids, buy art supplies for a child for one year, or provide digital media skills for five teens. Each penny, nickel, dime and dollar is an investment in the children of our community.

If your business or public location can host a canister to help raise funds for the kids, please contact Robert Armbrust at 650-589-7090 ext. 11 or rarmbrust@theclubs.org.
