Little Brown Church Restoration Project Competes to Win $50K

Vote online to help the local project on its way.

The Pacifica Historical Society is competing online to win $50,000 for the restoration of one of Pacifica's greatest historical assets: the Little Brown Church

The money, from Pepsi Co., will be awarded to 10 community projects across the country that get the most votes via text messages, through the contest's website and through Facebook. Out of hundreds of contestants, the Pacifica Historical Society's project is currently ranked 82nd, up two spots from Tuesday morning - not bad, but not yet good enough.

Pacifica has demonstrated its ability to compete in similar nationwide contests when it was voted "Most Beautiful" in Rand McNally's earlier this year. Let's do it again.

  • Click the Facebook option and allow Pepsi to link to your Facebook account. Then, vote.
  • For the third vote, you'll need a Pepsi account. If you don't have one, you can set one up through the same window that prompted you to log in with Facebook by providing a name, an email address and birthdate. You'll also be asked if you want to receive emails and text messages from Pepsi, but you can opt out. Once you enter your information and click the button at the bottom, Pepsi will send you one email. In that email will be a confirmation link that reads, "Confirm your account". Click it and then head back to the contest's website, sign in and vote. The website will say, "Thanks!" when you've voted.

The Pacifica Historical Society wants to turn the Little Brown Church into a Pacifica Museum Center to celebrate our city's long and interesting history.
