Be an Earth Day Hero Today, Tomorrow and Forever

Doing something simple can be a powerful way to show you care about the planet. Last weekend 1000's of people joined us to transform Pacifica and a number of sites down the coast.  

On a drive through Pacifica (if you look) you will find glimmering clean streets, a Pampas Grass free Oceana High School perimeter,  sunflowers growing at the Pacifica Gardens and more.  

On that special day our community joined together and made a Whale of a Difference that we could all see at once. Harder to see is the difference we make with the small actions we take every day individually. But they too add up! Although we can't quantify them, they are what the world needs most. Please join us today, our actual Earth Day, and do a few of our favorite "small things that add up to make a bigger whale of a difference."

• Pick up litter from your street or park
• Remove an invasive plant from your yard, neighborhood, or the Pedro Point Headlands
• Pledge to use tote bags and leave the plastic bags behind
• Carry your travel mug or bottle everywhere and eliminate single-use paper cups, lids, and straws.
• Teach your children and neighbors about cigarette butts and dog litter. 
• Start or maintain a compost bin
• Plant a garden or pot, grow lettuce, potatoes, or other food.   
• Start a collection of silverware, plates, and glasses for family gatherings, meetings, parties. 
• Join the Pacifica Beach Coalition , help clean beaches and streets while educating and inspiring people to take action.
• Cherish water and use it sparingly
• Gaze at the ocean and breathe!  It is there for you, pledge to be there for it!
