Video: Slater Disappears into Head High Barrel
Footage of the heat in which Slater won the record-setting victory and the celebration that ensured.
During the morning on Sunday, Nov. 6, Kelly Slater at Ocean Beach in San Francisco.
Unaware that the heat in which he secured the win was over, Slater continued to surf, pulled into a head high barrel and disappeared.
He was so deep it didn’t seem like he would make it out. Photographers dropped their cameras and most fans turned their heads, but, in Slater fashion, he came flying out. The beach erupted in cheers.
