Community Leaders Celebrate Return of Little Leaguers From Tournament of Champions

A Pacifica team made a good showing in a New York tournament last month.

A team of little leaguers from Pacifica who traveled nearly 3,000 miles to the National American Tournament of Champions in New York scored major attention from community leaders.

The leaders are hosting a homecoming celebration Monday afternoon, team representatives said.

The Pacifica Mavericks, who ranked 21 out of 104 teams at the 15th annual tournament, raised $25,000 to fund their trip to Cooperstown Dreams Park in Cooperstown, NY, last month, according to team representatives.
