BASEBALL: Tigers' CCS Hopes in Jeopardy

El Camino's sweep leaves Terra Nova in desperate straits; Tigers to learn postseason fate today.

The Terra Nova High baseball team entered the final week of the regular season in firm control of its Central Coast Section playoff hopes. But after losing a pair of games to Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division champion El Camino, the Tigers’ fate is out of their hands.

A 10-6 loss at El Camino on Friday coupled with left Terra Nova in fifth place in the final PAL Bay standings. The top four teams earn automatic CCS berths.

Terra Nova, which sat in a three-way tie for second with Burlingame and Carlmont heading into Wednesday’s games, is now left to hope for an at-large postseason bid. The CCS seeding meeting is today – which means the Tigers (14-11-1, 7-7 PAL Bay) won’t have to wait long to learn if their season gets new life.

Carlmont (18-8) and Burlingame (16-11) both won on Friday to finish tied for second at 9-5. , while .

Hillsdale (17-9, 8-6) won five of its final six league games, including the last four, to lock up fourth place.

El Camino (15-10-1, 11-3) celebrated with a 13-0 win at Terra Nova on Wednesday.
