Time to Start Thinking About Kindergarten

The Pacifica School District kicks off its kindergarten enrollment process with tours and information packets.

Pacifica School District's kindergarten kick-off for the 2013/2014 school year is now under way.

If you have a child who will be 5 years of age on or before Oct. 1, 2013, your child is eligible to attend kindergarten in fall 2013. If your child’s 5th birthday falls between October 2 and December 2, your child qualifies for the Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program offered at Ortega and Sunset Ridge Schools.

Parents are encouraged to tour all school sites. School tours are scheduled from mid-October into January.

Kindergarten information packets are available at the District Office and at school sites. In the packet is a Kindergarten Enrollment Card. After touring the school sites, parents will indicate their choices of schools on the card. Parents must tour the schools they are listing on the enrollment card.

If the number of applications exceeds the number of spaces available for any given site, a lottery for the available spaces for that site will be held. If a drawing is necessary, it will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013.
Parents are welcome, but not required, to attend the lottery drawing.

For more information, please see the Pacifica School District website at www.pacificasd.org and click on Kindergarten Information.

Applications for the TK program are available at the Pacifica School District Office at 375 Reina del Mar Avenue. School tours are not mandatory for TK enrollment. For more information, visit www.pacificasd.org/transitionalk/transitionalk.pdf or contact
