Looking for a preschool for your three or four-year-old child?

Pacifica's two full-time preschool sites and three part-time state preschools have openings in January for income eligible families.

Vallemar and Fairmont West preschools have about four openings for full-time subsidized preschoolers, said Peggy Ussery, assistant child care supervisor for Pacifica. "It's first-come, first-serve," Ussery said.

Families must meet the income requirements and have a need for full-time childcare. Families pay a sliding fee based on family size and income.

Ussery said the gross monthly income limits are as follows: family of one or two, $3,283; family of three, $3,518; family of four, $3,908; family of five, $4,534.

There are also about 10 openings in the following free, part-time, state preschools: Ocean Shore, Sunset Ridge and Fairmont Park.

"This year we have a lot of children in part-time programs going to mid-year kindergarten," Ussery said, adding that some families have also moved from Pacifica.

The part-time preschool programs run from 9 a.m. to noon.
