Chorus director and humanities teacher Sergio Robledo launched the Chorus class with hopes of bringing music back to our school. As exciting as it sounds, it is not that easy to run a music program. The band room that is used by both the Chorus class and Music club has long been uninhabited because the last time the school had a music class was in the 1980s.

Robledo and his students (current and future) need assistance in paying for instruments and other music equipment as well. The Jefferson Union High School district is the least funded public high school district on the San Francisco Peninsula. This is why they need support.

The new Chorus class has worked tremendously hard for the school community. They performed at the first Oceana High School fundraising dinner celebrating the 50 years of the school. However, the output of their wonderful performances is not enough to pay for all the things needed.

Robledo, also a musician, artist and illustrator, designed awesome shirts and sweaters that can be purchased to help support the music program. The artwork on the shirts are in red, yellow or blue with silver metallic ink. The design includes a shark's jaw because sharks are the school's mascot. The quotes are from song lyrics and quotes by such musical luminaries as Ludwig von Beethoven, Kanye West, AC/DC, Bob Marley, and Frou Frou.

Robledo understands that times are difficult, but wishes that people can lend any type of benevolence so that the Chorus class and Music club will be able to continue on and bring great music to the school.

If you are interested in purchasing a shirt/sweater or you want more details you can check them out here. The presale price for the shirts is $14, while the sweaters are $25. The regular price for the shirts is $18, while the sweaters are $30. E-mail srobledo@juhsd.net to place your order.

These shirts are not just for people that attend Oceana which is why Robledo has created a way that you can purchase them online. The website to purchase them will be up soon. On behalf of Robledo and the chorus class, Thank you!
