In recognition of October as Anti-Bullying Month, the San Mateo County Library is pleased to announce a presentation by the filmmaker and a screening of "Bullying: A Culture of Silence" in Pacifica at Pacifica Sharp Park Library, 104 Hilton Way, Saturday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m.
Filmmaker Sunnie McFadden-Curtis has produced a candid documentary that profiles the profound and lasting consequences that bullying has on the victims, their families and friends, the bystanders, as well as the bullies themselves.
Over three years of research and interviews has given McFadden-Curtis a unique, first-hand look into the destructive culture of long-term bullying and the rationale behind the silence that surrounds it.
Join McFadden-Curtis as she hosts a screening of her outstanding Canadian documentary and a discussion into the causes of bullying and its consequences. She offers tools to educate and assist families who are embroiled in these devastating situations.
This program is part of a series of ongoing events and programs that supports Respect! 24/7 a San Mateo County anti-bullying initiative. San Mateo County Library is in partnership with the San Mateo County Office of Education in its efforts to reduce incidents of bullying, and to empower children and youth to exhibit leadership on this issue. It encourages families, and communities to prioritize respect and civility and to engage in a deeper conversation about civil behavior and acceptable norms for a caring community.
