The Pacifica Historical Society Hears that Train A-Comin'

The Pacifica Historical Society put in some more work on its restoration of Ocean Shore Rail Road car # 1409 in preparation for its move to Rockaway Beach.

Ocean Shore Rail Road Car # 1409 had quite a bit of attention paid to it on Sunday.  One of the Pacifica Historical Society's two projects, the other being the restoration of the Little Brown Church, is to restore the rail car, currently parked at the Shamrock Ranch, and move it to the corner of Salada Ave and Francisco Blvd, across the street from the Little Brown Church.

But before that happens, the PHS needs to replace all the rotted wood and prep the car for a move from its current location, to anothe temporary housing station, on Rockaway Beach.

Today the tent that covered it over the winter was broken down, and most of the remaining rotten wood was torn off.  Soon, the PHS will be able to put some shoring under it, and, with the help of generously donated flatbed, haul it over the hill to Rockaway.

On a similiar note, the PHS still has tickets available for its tours of Sam's Castle on April 27 & 28 and May 4 & 5.  Ticket information available at its website.
