Pacifica Historical Society To Renovate Train Car This Weekend

Now that the sun is out, the Pacifica Historical Society is planning to resume its work on Pacifica's historical Ocean Shore Railroad Car 1409.

The Pacifica Historical Society will start another season in the renovation efforts of Ocean Shore Rail Road Car #1409. With great anticipation, they are preparing to move the Railcar from it's current location at Shamrock Ranch to the Maintenance Facility in Northern Rockaway Beach, a site lent to PHS by the City of Pacifica.

This weekend's work will prepare the car for the move.  They hope to break down and erect it's shelter and construct shoring and cribbing to lift and lower the 20 ton car at both the old and new sites.

And, PHS would appreciate volunteers to help!

PHS needs about a dozen volunteers to prepare the train and pickup trucks to move materials. The work will during the next few weeks so every bit at any time will help.

As a side note, the PHS still has tickets available for tours of Sam's Castle on April 27 & 28 and May 4 & 5.  Check out the website to see how you can see this incredible building and hear some of stories about its architecture, artwork, and alleged appartitions.
