Upcoming City Council Meeting Agenda

On Monday, Pacifica City Council will meet to address the San Pedro Creek bridge project, Recology rate adjustments, and more.

For the City Council meeting on Monday, city staff recommends that the council approve the renewal of contracts for streetlight maintenance with Republic ITS for $33,280.50 and for street sweeping services with Clean Street Company for $111,711.60.

The council’s agenda states that “staff is very satisfied with the services rendered by these companies and recommends the renewal of their contracts for fiscal year 2012-2013.”

The council will also decide whether to approve a contract with HF&H Consultants to review the June 1, 2012 rate adjustment application from Recology of the Coast. The city of Pacifica entered into an agreement with Recology in February 2010, and in August of that year, a 5 percent rate increase was implemented.

Rate increases in the past have included a 5 percent increase in August 2010, which provided for the purchase of new carts and trucks, an 8 percent increase in July 2011, followed by a third adjustment in January 2012.

HF&H Consultants are scheduled to turn in their report on the recent Recology application to the city in August.

City staff also recommends that the council nominate the creek-widening aspect of the Route 1 San Pedro Creek Bridge Replacement Project to be funded through a San Mateo County highway program.

The San Mateo County Transportation Authority put out a call for projects for a $104 million program to reduce congested commute corridors in the county.

The new bridge, built to current structural and seismic standards, will coast approximately $9.5 million, and can be funded through federal, state, and local grants. City of Pacifica staff hope the call for projects from the county TA will cover the $2 million creek-widening.

The council will also decide whether to nominate the Route 1 Calera Parkway project for the county TA call for projects. This project would alleviate peak hour traffic on Route 1 from Westport Drive to Fassler Avenue.

City Council plans to cancel their meeting on August 27, 2012.
