Fenton Police Find Cocaine During Traffic Stop

The following information was provided by the Fenton Police Department; an arrest does not necessarily indicate a conviction.

Police arrested a 39-year-old Flushing woman and held her overnight at the after suspected crack cocaine was found in her vehicle, said Chief of Police Rick Aro.

Police stopped the woman at U.S. 23 and Torrey Road around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, after her 1997 white Buick Riviera was observed weaving in the lanes of traffic, the police report said.

When an officer contacted the driver, she said her vehicle was weaving because she was driving barefoot, Aro said. The officer asked her to step outside her car for sobriety tests and searched her vehicle, which she consented to, he said.

The officer located a small part of a plastic baggie, with suspected crack cocaine in it, on the floor of the vehicle, Aro said. Police brought the woman to the station and questioned her about the suspected crack cocaine in her car, learning she was on parole out of Northern Michigan for cocaine possession, the report said.

Fenton police held the woman overnight in the lockup, releasing her in the morning pending testing of the substance believed to be crack cocaine, Aro said. A warrant could be authorized, he added, and the woman’s parole officer was contacted and advised of the situation.
