Petition Seeks to Remove Peevey as CPUC President
A San Bruno woman launched the online petition in response to the commission's recent decision to suspend its hearings on the PG&E penalty case stemming from the 2010 San Bruno fire.
An online petition has been launched calling for the removal of the CPUC president from his position following the commission's recent decision to suspend its hearings on the PG&E penalty case stemming from the 2010 San Bruno fire.
Crestmoor neighborhood resident Kathy DeRenzi launched the petition on change.org to formally request that Gov. Jerry Brown appoint a new president of the California Public Utilities Commission. Critics have blasted CPUC President Michael Peevey for his handling of the proceedings and called the CPUC's sudden decision to appoint a former U.S. senator to help mediate talks about the proceedings a backroom deal between the CPUC and PG&E.
"Michael Peevey has failed the residents of San Bruno, and put ALL California residents at risk with his lack of transparency, and lack of interest in protecting consumers," DeRenzi said in the petition.
