Pete de Jarnatt Leaves City Council After 16 years
de Jarnatt: 'I can no longer do the job as effectively as I like. I'm burned out. You have to have a very thick skin to do this job.'
Known for championing environmental causes, Pete de Jarnatt leaves office this week after 16 years in service on the City Council. Pacifica's new term limits would not have prevented him from running for another term, but according to the Pacifica Tribune, de Jarnatt says he felt it was time to leave.
"I knew it was time to leave," de Jarnatt, 60, said in the Pacifica Tribune article. "I can no longer do the job as effectively as I like. I'm burned out. You have to have a very thick skin to do this job. Fortunately, only a small number of people are constantly attacking you, but I'm weary of it. It's time for new people to come in."
He'll still be active in the community by serving on a few boards and committees and by volunteering.
