Other facts

I was born and raised in Pacifica. My husband Mike and I have also raised our two children here; Zach just began college at Chico State and Aly is currently a junior at Terra Nova High School. I served as trustee and president of the Pacifica School Governing Board from 2006 to 2010. I was elected to the Board during very difficult economic times. School budgets had to be drastically cut yet we balanced the budget while continuing to provide a high quality education to the students. The district employees worked diligently and gave back a great deal to make sure this happened and I am proud of the strong working relationship I shared with the teachers and staff. I have served on the Financing City Services Task Force since 2008. This is a committee formed by City Council where our objective was to evaluate the revenues and expenditures within the general budget and make recommendations back to the Council. This experience has made me acutely aware of the financial situation that Pacifica is currently facing and poises me to hit the ground running if elected to Council. I also serve as a director on Pacifican's Care, a local non profit organization that funds social services in Pacifica.

Ms. Ervin, Thank you for your extended public service to our town. I must ask, how do you feel about being hung out to dry by city manager Steve Rhodes in being given a totally false estimate of what outsourcing the Pacifica police department would save? Specifically, the city proffered an amount of $1.5 million in savings, which we learned much later was some sort of tortured interpretation of the savings that San Carlos acheived, and which has nothing to do with what may or may not be savings in Pacifica. And what is your position on the city of Pacifica's continued concealment of a consultant's report, paid for by taxpayer dollars to the tune of $15,000 to $20,000? These questions are important, as nobody trusts our elected officials at this point. Thank you.

My first impression on Ms Ervin is that she or her staff are lacking when in comes to maintaining the beauty of Pacifica. There is a LARGE campaign sign placed on what is one of the few beautiful places along the 600 block of Manor Dr.. This suited HUGE sign is more suited for Skyline Blvd. I have lived on Manor for 16 years and am active in doing what I can as a concerned citizen to contribute to the well being of the Pacifica Manor District. This particular view that has been ruined has remained unmarred for over 2 decades due to the continued vigilance of the Manor District residents who have fought to preserve this small gem of property as open space. When I tried to reason with the person putting up this monstrosity.... I was informed that he had no decision as to where the signs go. SO.... .....Ms. Ervin.... do you not have ANY other supporters here in the Manor District that you need to ruin this beautiful view rather than use YARD SIGNS lkie everyone else? If not..Perhaps you should spend some time in our district and get to know us.... You could start with me... As an active Democrat i would like to more about what YOU would do in these troubled times for our beautiful city.. THAT would go a LOT further in helping you to attain your goal of election to the City Council of Pacifca. Right now... what you have is a LOT of upset neighbors in this district that are appalled at your insensitivity.. PLEASE.... Candidate Ervin....remove this sign Thank You Dwion Gates
