Jefferson Union High School District Parcel Tax Reaches 67% Approval

By 11:30 p.m. last night, Measure Y garnered the 2/3 vote required to pass.

Measure Y, the $48 education parcel tax on Tuesday's ballot exceeded the required 2/3 vote needed to pass last night with 67.22 percent approval.

"There's no question that the schools are hurting," Pacifica Mayor Pete DeJarnatt told Patch. "We all know that if we want to have good schools and continue to have good schools, we have to pay for it. I don’t mind paying a little more to do that."

The measure applies to the Jefferson Union High School District’s five high schools, including Pacifica's Oceana and Terra Nova.
