City Council Approves Large Sewer Rate Increase

The minimum sewer bill in Pacifica will increase from $510.34 to $567.18.

Jane Northrop reported in the Pacifica Tribune that the Pacifica City Council approved a sizable sewer rate increase Monday.

Rates will rise by 11.1 percent, increasing the minimum bill in Pacifica from about $510 to just over $567 annually. The rate hike is in part due to fines from the California Regional Water Quality Control Board over a at Pacifica's wastewater treatment plant.

City Finance Director Ann Ritzma received just 91 protest letters over the rate increase. 6,300 were necessary to bar the council from approving it, Northrop reports.
