Caltrans to Start Repair Work on Highway 1

Construction begins Monday night.

Caltrans will implement one-way traffic control on a portion of state Highway 1 south of Pacifica starting tonight.

The closure will allow crews to repair damage from rockslides roughly half a mile south of Linda Mar Boulevard. A new concrete wall will be built on the hill above the southbound lane.

The one-way traffic control will begin at 7 p.m. today and last until 7 a.m. Tuesday, and repeat nightly until Saturday morning.

Starting Oct. 3, one-way traffic control will be implemented during the day, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., until Oct. 7.

The project was to begin in late August, but was delayed when Caltrans geologists and engineers discovered that deterioration on the hillside required more preliminary work.

Drivers are advised to expect delays in the area.
