Update: Hwy 1 Reopened Following Crash Closure

Update 2:55 p.m.:

 State Highway 1 north of Montara has reopened after being blocked Tuesday afternoon while crews cleared away a crashed vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol.

 The incident was reported at 11:37 a.m. on southbound Highway 1 south of the Tom Lantos Tunnels, at Gray Whale Cove.

 Initial reports indicated that the vehicle was hanging off a cliff, though no injuries were reported.

A Sig-alert was issued at 1:29 p.m. when both directions of the highway were shut down. It was lifted at 2:35 p.m.

 Traffic was reportedly backed up through the tunnels as a result of the crash.

State Highway 1 is closed in both directions at Gray Whale Cove just north of Montara because of a solo-vehicle crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident was reported at 11:37 a.m. on southbound Highway 1 south of the Tom Lantos Tunnels.

 Emergency personnel are working to remove the vehicle that crashed, according to the CHP.

Initial reports indicated that the vehicle was hanging off a cliff. No injuries have been reported. A Sig-alert was issued at 1:29 p.m.
