Traffic Advisory: Lanes Blocked on NB 280 Near Pacifica Exit

A fatal crash occurred at about 8:15 a.m. A Sig-alert is expected to be in effect for about two hours.

Three lanes of northbound Interstate Highway 280 in Daly City continue to be blocked because of a fatal crash this morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The crash was reported on Highway 280 near state Highway 1 at about 8:15 a.m., CHP Office Michael Ferguson said.

Preliminary information indicates that the driver of a Honda SUV lost control and struck the center divide, Ferguson said. The SUV overturned several times and came to rest in the far left lane.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles appear to have been involved, Ferguson said.

Emergency responders were still working to clear the crash as of 9:45 a.m., and the three left lanes on northbound 280 are expected to be closed until about 10:45 a.m., he said.

The crash has snarled traffic, and motorists are being advised to use alternate routes.

One person was killed this morning in a crash on Interstate Highway 280 in Daly City, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

Officers responded to reports of a crash involving as many as four vehicles on northbound Highway 280 near state Highway 1 at about 8:15 a.m., CHP Officer Scott Cakebread said.

One person has been confirmed killed, he said. There were no immediate reports of other injuries. Three left lanes were blocked as emergency crews responded, he said.

A Sig-alert was issued at 8:27 a.m. and was expected to be in effect for about two hours.
