Poodle Bludgeoned to Death With a Brick

Dog found whimpering and convulsing in a pool of blood with its snout caved in. A suspect was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty.

A San Mateo County man is accused of killing a teenage girl's poodle by hitting it in the head with a brick because the pet wandered into his yard one too many times, the district attorney said.

Marcos Montano-Topete, 32, who lives on Dumbarton Avenue in unincorporated Redwood City, faces one charge of felony animal cruelty in connection with the March 26 attack.

Prosecutors said Montano-Topete allegedly approached his 16-year-old neighbor and told her he was sick of her dog - a 26-pound poodle named 'Globsis' - coming onto his property, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said. Montano-Topete allegedly told the girl he had hit her dog and it was lying in her yard, Wagstaffe said.

The pet was found whimpering and convulsing in a pool of blood. The dog's snout appeared to be caved in, and deputies later found a brick nearby, according to the district attorney's office.

The dog was taken to a Peninsula veterinarian for medical treatment, but due to the severity of its injuries, the owners decided to have the dog euthanized.

Montano-Topete was arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty, and pleaded not guilty in June. Defense attorney Tom Deremigio did not immediately return a call for comment.

Montano-Topete is due to appear in court for a superior court review conference Wednesday afternoon, and is scheduled to return for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 9.

Hit him with the same brick in the same manner and see how he feels then. What an insensitive bully. Had it been a german shepherd, black bear or mountain lion, he would've let it in his yard at any time.

This honestly makes me sick to my stomach. My heart goes out to the girl, her family, and that poor, poor animal. No living creature deserves to die like that. I wonder what, if found guilty, his sentence will be?

Montano-Topete is an ugly brutal man and should always be remembered and shamed by his community, neighbors, grocery clerks, etc. May he never be able to escape his legacy to this hidious crime against a poor defensely pet. Although our courts will not properly sentence this man for the crime he committed we as a society should never let him forget and make him feel so ashamed of himself that he will not want to show his digusting face in public. Motano-Topete will have a special place in HELL reserved for him for all of eternity. God help his family cause if he did this to a dog just think how he treats his family!

Many serial killers - true psychopaths - start out by killing and maiming small animals. The trouble is that psychopaths can not be cured - they are wired that way. If this rotten individual would bash in the face of a small dog simply because it roamed into his yard one time too many, imagine what he could do to a small child, teenager, or another adult who happens to cross his path...

We live in an country where there are different races and different languages but the native language is English and to omit that language from any sign that was paid for by tax payers is a slap in the face.
