Police Issue 35 Citations in Heightened Enforcement on El Camino Real

Most were for speeding.

By Bay City News Service:

Law enforcement officers focused on unsafe driving along the El Camino Real corridor in central San Mateo County on Monday, issuing 35 citations and 10 warnings to motorists in the area.

The heightened traffic safety enforcement took place along the same stretch of roadway in San Bruno that local resident Bernabe Lactawen was killed while crossing the street on July 6.

The citations were issued primarily for speeding on El Camino Real.

On top of the speeding citations, one person was arrested for an outstanding DUI warrant, one was cited for driving with a suspended license and one was cited for driving without a license.

San Mateo County officials said that similar traffic safety deployments will continue throughout the year as part of an effort to reduce injuries and deaths on San Mateo County roadways.
