Police Blotter: A Graffiti Spree, High Ex-Boyfriend, Customer Intervention and an Earthquake

Read a rundown of recent police activity and crime in Pacifica.

April 5 – 6:29 a.m. Graffiti Spree: Tagging was reported at and again at 8:06 a.m. on the 800 block of Palmetto Avenue. At 8:15 a.m., more spray paint vandalism was reported on the 2100 block of Beach Boulevard. At 8:39 a.m., spray paint was spotted on the exterior wall of an the Pier. At 9:19 a.m., on the 0 block of Manor Plaza, graffiti on a bus shelter was reported. It spelled “JSA”. SamTrans was notified.

3:33 p.m. A fight was reported at the corner of Beach Boulevard and Carmel Avenue. The caller said three teens were engaged in a fight surrounded by 12 onlookers. No weapons were spotted, but the teens appeared to be filming the spectacle. When the police caught up with those they believed were involved, they were very uncooperative.

April 6 – 10:03 p.m. A missing juvenile was reported.

11:25a.m. Man Down: On the 2100 block of Beach Boulevard, a caller told police that a man was lying down in the street asking for help. Medical responded but no arrest was made.

3:42 p.m. Someone in the lobby of the Pacifica Police station reported that their identity had been stolen.

11:52 p.m. A caller told police that the missing juvenile had returned home.

April 7 – 6:42 a.m. High Ex-Boyfriend: A caller on the 400 block of Gateway Drive told police that a “possibly-high” ex-boyfriend was refusing to leave her, the ex-girlfriend’s, couch. He did not have a weapon. She had brought him to the apartment the night before but was now refusing to give him a ride back to San Francisco. When the police arrived, the ex-boyfriend left.

12:09 p.m. A caller told police that their deceased husband’s gun had been stolen from their home on the 0 block of Craigmont Court. She had been going through his things after he passed away but could not locate the weapon.

8:21 p.m. A caller reported that a white male, 23- to 35-years-old in red-colored jacket and blue jeans had grabbed a bottle of whiskey and ran out of their store on the 1000 block of Terra Nova Boulevard.

11:19 p.m. A man in the police station lobby who lives on the 200 block of Greenway Drive said he was afraid his dogs had been poisoned and that a new puppy would “drop dead”. 

April 8 – 11:01 p.m. A caller heard firearm discharge from the 100 block of Esplanade Avenue. Six to eight shots were heard.

April 9 – 5:31 p.m. A motorist was arrested for a hit and run misdemeanor on the 1400 block of Terra Nova Boulevard.

11:50 p.m. A residential burglary was reported. The caller did not know how the burglar(s) entered their house, but the front door was unlocked and the house was “ransacked”.

April 10 – 11:50 a.m. A juvenile on the 100 block of Rio Vista Drive was cited for penal code violations for being in the street with what appeared to be a rifle. The juvenile was dressed in full camouflage and was alone, pacing back and forth in the street. Police found that the gun was actually an airsoft gun.

April 11 – A man on the 200 block of Kent Road filed a restraining order against a woman for himself and “Mike the Dog”.

10:17 a.m. Terrorist Threats: A caller on the 900 block of Reina Del Mar Avenue reported that she had been receiving terrorist threats via text messages which included pictures of her missing dog. Police are currently investigating the threats.

1:03 p.m. A hit and run was reported on Rockaway Beach Avenue.

3:15 p.m. Drunken Jogger: A caller on the 100 block of Manor Drive reported that a man was running through the street with what appeared to be a beer in his hand. He stopped in the middle of the street, took a swig, and ran on.  

6:13 p.m. The owner of a car parked on the 100 block of Crestmoor Court reported that his back window had been smashed.

Apr 14 - 5:30 a.m: An unknown suspect stole a television from the Pacifica archery range clubhouse on Ridgeway Drive.

11:35 a.m: A resident of the 1500 block of Flores Drive reported to Pacifica Police that his car was vandalized overnight while parked in the owner's driveway. The car windshield was broken as well as other visible damages.

8:55 p.m: A man was caught on surveillance cameras at Linda Mar Center Safeway stealing items from the grocery. A cashier was able to identify the suspect by name.

Apr 15 - 5:42 p.m: Five juveniles were reportedly hitting golf balls into traffic on the highway at the intersection of Roberts Road and Fassler Avenue.

11:27 p.m: A bonfire was reported on Linda Mar beach.

Apr 16 - 11:11 p.m: A noise disturbance was reported on the 1200 block of Terra Nova Boulevard. The caller told police that there was possible underage drinking in the reported home.

Apr 17 - 3:03 p.m: Customer Intervention: An elderly male attempted to steal items from the businesses at Manor Plaza. Customers detained the man by Pacifica Farmers Market until police arrived.

Apr. 18 - 3:21 p.m: Earthquake: PG&E advised the Pacifica Police Department of either a transformer explosion or downed wires. A major line was out of service and the cause of which was not yet determined. This outage followed a just two miles southeast of Pacifica.
