Police Arrest Man, 84, for Shooting at Daly City Medical Facility

News reports suggest the man was a disgruntled patient.

By Bay City News Service:

Police in Daly City have arrested an 84-year-old man in connection with a shooting at a medical center Wednesday afternoon.

Officers responded to a report of an armed person at a medical office building located at 1500 Southgate Ave. at about 1:30 p.m., police said.

Police said the reporting party heard a gunshot in the second floor of the building.

Several people were either evacuated or told to shelter in place during a search in and around the facility.

Police said bullet fragments were found in a hallway but no suspect was found during the initial search, police said.

Investigators learned of a possible suspect, leading to the arrest late Wednesday night of Raymond Iwase at his home in the unit block of Plymouth Circle, according to police.

Police recovered a gun and ammunition at Iwase's home during the arrest. Iwase was booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
