Paraglider Stabilizes After Cliff Rescue

Firefighters and paramedics treated the injured man, who was in serious condition.

A paraglider was transported to the trauma unit at San Francisco General Hospital Thursday after flying into a cliff north of Mussel Rock Beach in Daly City, according to North County Fire Authority officials.

At approximately 3:15 p.m. three fire companies, one rescue unit, an ambulance and a chief officer responded to a cliff rescue approximately a quarter mile north of Mussel Rock Beach.

The first arriving fire company located a 79-year-old male who had gone down while paragliding near the top part of the hillside. 

Firefighters and paramedics treated the injured man, who was in serious condition.

After stabilizing the patient, he was placed on a backboard and moved to an awaiting ambulance, which took him to San Francisco General Hospital.
