Paraglider Rescued North of Mussel Rock in Pacifica

Tuesday night the North County Fire Authority responded to a cliff rescue approximately a half-mile north of Mussel Rock in Pacifica where a paraglider crashed into the rocks above the beach and needed help.

At approximately 8:19 p.m., firefighter paramedics treated and stabilized the victim, who had serious multiple injuries, according to Clyde Preston of the North County Fire Authority.

A Coast Guard helicopter lowered a rescue basket down to firefighter paramedics to airlift the patient.

The patient was then transferred to a Life Flight helicopter where he was transported to a local hospital.
