Pacifica Police Nab Parolee-at-Large After Vehicle Pursuit

Pacifica police dog "Janyk" found the suspect, who ditched the car in San Francisco and fled on foot.

A 45-year-old San Francisco man with an outstanding felony parole warrant was arrested Sunday for allegedly stealing a car and failing to pull over for a traffic stop, leading police in a high-speed vehicle pursuit from Pacifica to San Francisco, according to a Pacifica Police report.

The chase began on Sunday morning at approximately 9:30 a.m. when Pacifica Police Corporal Serrano noticed in the 200 block of Gateway Drive in Pacifica a Ford Aerostar van that had been reported stolen to the San Francisco Police Department on Nov. 14.

The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver immediately fled, refusing to yield to the emergency lights and siren of the police car, according to Cap. Daniel Steidle of the Pacifica Police Department.

A vehicle pursuit ensued, in which the driver of the stolen vehicle exceeded the speed limit and failed to obey traffic controls and signals. The driver, still ahead of the pursing police vehicle, stopped the vehicle and fled on foot in the 100 block of Lobos Street in San Francisco, said Steidle.

A female passenger in the car also fled on foot.
