Pacifica Man Killed By Hit-and-Run Driver Wednesday

The Sonoma County coroner's office has identified the pedestrian who was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Santa Rosa on Wednesday.

The Sonoma County coroner's office has identified a pedestrian who was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Santa Rosa on Wednesday as 64-year-old George Michael Black of Pacifica.

Black was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:15 p.m., and an autopsy is scheduled for Friday, a coroner's office spokeswoman said.

Officers responded to the collision in the 3600 block of Montgomery Drive at 1:08 p.m. and found Black on the side of the road.

While officers were responding they were informed the driver had left, Sgt. Mike Numainville said.

Witnesses said the male victim was struck by a light-colored newer model Mercedes Benz sedan driven by a white Hispanic male in his 30s with dark hair, he said.

The car was last seen heading east on Montgomery Drive, possibly with front-end damage.

Montgomery Drive was closed until around 5 p.m. while police investigated the collision.
