Responding officers noticed that Bernard smelled of alcohol, and he allegedly admitted to drinking before driving.

The victim had a large laceration to her head and other injuries, and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital.

Bernard's preliminary hearing was slated for Friday, but the defense motion to continue was granted and the case was reset to June 12 at 2 p.m. for the preliminary hearing.
