Officers Arrest Suspected Murderer in San Mateo County Cold Case

Believed to have stabbed teenage mother to death 15 years ago

Officers have arrested a man in Texas who is suspected to be responsible for the killing of a teenage mother who was found dead in her San Mateo County home more than 15 years ago.

Jose Luis Arreola, 37, is believed to be the murderer of 19-year-old Gabriella Tello, who was found stabbed to death inside her home at 2356 Ralmar Ave. on the evening of May 21, 1995, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

Tello's 2-year-old daughter was unharmed, deputies said.

Arreola, later identified as Tello's boyfriend, evaded arrest by
 llegedly using several aliases over the years, including Mario Garcia and Gerardo Tello, according to the sheriff's office.

He was arrested March 10 after officers spotted him at the Mexican border near Laredo, Texas, and he was transferred to California on Wednesday.
