Missing Hiker Found In Pescadero Creek Park

A female was reported missing on Saturday at 9:38 a.m. after a group of seven adults went on a hike around Pescadero Creek County Park, according to Sheriff Deputies. She didn’t know she was reported missing and was located approximately nine hours later.  

All the hikers agreed to meet up in Pescadero Creek Park at a point where the two trails intersected, but the missing female never arrived. After not having contact with the missing female for approximately two hours, the group reported her missing to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were dispatched to the area of Memorial Park with the assistance of conducted a search with the San Mateo County Park Rangers.

San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, Office of Emergency Services was contacted and began an expanded search, including an extensive air search by the Sheriff’s Air Squadron. Ground searchers from the Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue, K-9 Searchers, Explorers, BAMRU and the Communications Unit also joined in the search.

At approximately 5:55 PM, the Sheriff’s Office was notified that the missing female was located safe and uninjured at Big Basin State Park. Sheriff’s Deputies interviewed the missing female, who didn’t realize she’d been reported missing. The missing female told Deputies she thought the rest of the hikers were still ahead of and behind her. It wasn’t until she arrived at Big Basin State Park, that she realized nobody else from her party was around.
