Law Enforcement Officers Receive Crisis Intervention Training

The training helps officers handle community members with mental health issues.

Mental Health Professionals and Law Enforcement Personnel from multiple agencies joined forces recently for San Mateo County Crisis Intervention Training or ‘CIT’ in Belmont.

The class includes identification of the more common types of mental illness, skills for de-escalation of potentially violent situations, assessment of medication information, specifics on suicide intervention and a mental health system overview.

This training greatly enhances the provision of services to mentally ill members of the community as well as citizens who are in crisis.
