JOBS: CHP to Open Four-Day Application Period for Officer Candidates

The agency will only accept applications for four days beginning July 7.

The following is a news release from the California Highway Patrol: 


The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will accept applications in July from individuals interested in a career as a CHP officer. The CHP is looking to hire cadets froma pool of applicants to fill vacant officer positions throughout the state.

“We are looking for members of our communities to join one of the most well-known law enforcement agencies in the world,” said CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow. “The CHP is looking for men and women who represent the diverse communities that we serve to provide the highest level of Safety, Service, and Security to the people of California.”

Applications will only be accepted online during a four-day period beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 7, and ending at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014. This brief application period marks the first time this year the CHP has accepted applications. Those interested in applying, or seeking additional information, should visit www.chpcareers.com.

“A life with the CHP is a career, not a job,” added Commissioner Farrow. “We invite all interested members of our communities to apply during the four day application period.”

Minimum qualifications for candidates include: must be 20-35 years old, a U.S. citizen, have no felony convictions, and be a high school graduate. Each applicant will be required to complete the entire testing process including a physical ability test, written test, background investigation,medical/vision evaluation, and psychological evaluation.
