Firefighters Help Save Family's Dog From Burning Pacifica Home

By Bay City News:

Firefighters rescued a dog from a burning home in Pacifica Tuesday afternoon, North County fire officials said.

Crews responded to a report of a fire in the 100 block of Edgewood Drive in a residential neighborhood off of state Highway 1 at about 3:10 p.m., officials said.

The one-alarm blaze at the two-story, single-family home was contained to the kitchen area and was controlled within two hours, officials said, but after putting out the blaze-- crews searched the home and found the occupants' dog, which was in a bedroom at the rear of the residence.

The dog suffered smoke inhalation and was administered oxygen before being returned to the occupants. No one was injured in the fire.

Five occupants were displaced and have received housing assistance from the American Red Cross, according to fire officials. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
