Explosions Mire End of Boston Marathon

One person from Pacifica and five from Half Moon Bay area are registered as runners. Are they okay?

 

A day of celebration has turned into tragedy and chaos as two explosions take place about an hour after the first man crossed the finished line in Boston this Monday. The explosions reportedly killed two and injured dozens.

According to the Boston Athletic Association website, 6 people registered for the race, one from the Pacifica — Sophia Chen — and five from the Half Moon Bay area. Of those, four had already crossed the finish line.

Hanel's wife Kate reports from Moss Beach that she heard from her husband Sean and he is fine.

"He says Amanda Jurinen and David Lara are there and fine, too," she said.

They are still waiting to hear about Eric Vaughn and Chuck Turner.

No news from Chen either.

It's likely that others from the city travelled out there to give them support. Patch will continue to report this story as it develops and bring news about our local runners as we hear more.

There is no confirmation about what may have caused the explosion.
