Drunken Driver Allegedly Kills Pacifica Pedestrian Early This Morning

Victim was dead when fire and police arrived

A Pacifica man died early this morning when he was struck by a drunk driver at Skyline Boulevard (state Route 35) and Sharp Park Road, police said. 

Matt Lucett, Planning Chief for the North County Fire Authority, said that one fire company, along with California Highway Patrol and Pacifica police, responded to a report of a pedestrian down at 1:43am this morning.

The victim, who is not being named at this time, was dead when they arrived.

The driver, 57-year-old San Bruno resident Leopaldo Tobilla, initially fled the scene but returned and told police he had struck a pedestrian.

He was arrested by Pacifica Police and booked into a San Mateo County jail in Redwood City for driving under the influence and causing fatal injury, vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of a collison that resulted in a fatality.
