The drought is taking its toll on summer fun for campers.
On Thursday, park officials in San Mateo County canceled all camping activity at one of the area's most popular regional parks.
Due to water restrictions and dry conditions, the San Mateo County Parks Department said no camping activity will be allowed in Memorial Park in Loma Mar for the duration of the season, which ends in October.
Park officials said campers with reservations will be contacted by phone or email, and will be offered the opportunity to reschedule their reservation for 2015, or request a full refund of camping fees.
Services at other popular recreation areas such as Sam McDonald County Park, Jack Brook Horse Camp, which are fed by Alpine Creek, will be curtailed.
Pescadero Creek Park, including hike-in sites will be open. Park officials said they are committed to providing the highest level of service possible while managing a very limited resource and preserving the small amount of water in the creek for downstream residents and wildlife.
