Pacifica Police Explorers Graduate With Accolades

Four teens from Pacifica recently completed the 100-hour course that covers the basic areas of law enforcement.

 

Four Explorers from the Pacifica Police Department graduated on Friday, April 12, from the 76th Peninsula Law Enforcement Explorer Academy along with 30 other Explorers from San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. 

The Pacifica Police Department’s newest Explorer Academy graduates are Explorers Remy Loubriel, Liam Brady, Kristina Smathers and Kristina Borg.

The Explorer Academy is a 100-hour course which covers the basic areas of law enforcement. During the Academy, Explorers are certified in first aid and CPR.  They also attend classes in areas such as community policing, evidence collection, firearms safety, and search and rescue.

Loubriel was voted by her peers to be the class president. Loubriel gave a speech at the graduation on behalf of the class and was presented with an award from the youth staff of the academy. She also received the Top Gun award.

Brady received a first place trophy in the male category for the Physical Ability Test. Smathers received a first place trophy in the female category for the Physical Ability Test. Smathers was the top student in the entire class and she was also voted as the Most Inspirational Explorer by her peers.

The department is very proud of the accomplishments of all of the graduating Explorers and we welcome our recent graduates into the Pacifica Police Department family, said Pacifica Police Department police chief Jim Tasa.
