CERT Volunteers Needed to Continue Search for Missing Pacifica Woman

Another search is being conducting today at San Pedro Valley Park to look for 76-year-old Maria "Marlies" Jansen, who has been missing since Wednesday.

A search and rescue team looking for a is looking for volunteers to help with the search effort today.

CERT volunteers are needed to distribute informational bulletins to about 1,000 homes in the Park Pacifica area, where Maria "Marlies" Jansen was last seen.

A briefing took place at 9 a.m. at a command post set up in San Pedro Valley Park.

The search for Jansen began Wednesday evening with 83 people from multiple agencies working all hours of the night through the first two days. About 40 people continued the search on Friday.

Pacifica police said Jansen is an avid hiker, but she likely suffers from early-stage dementia.

With Jansen's mental condition, her age, the difficult terrain and the frigid overnight temperatures, police believe time may be running out to find her.
