Car Goes Off Highway 101 South of Candlestick Point

By Bay City News Service:

A car went off of northbound U.S. Highway 101 and into the water just south of San Francisco's Candlestick Point Thursday morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The crash was first reported at 6:42 a.m. and the car remained in the water an hour later, CHP Officer Eric Anderson said.

Anderson did not know why the car went off of the highway and did not have any update on the status of the driver.

A tow truck responded to the scene to help get the vehicle out of the water as of 7:45 a.m., Anderson said.
