UPDATE: Caltrain Strikes Jaywalker South of SSF Station

A train struck a male pedestrian around 6 p.m. just south of the South San Francisco station; his condition was not immediately known, according to Caltrain.

 

Update, 9:47 a.m.: The man struck by a train while crossing the tracks 0.2 miles south of the South San Francisco station had attempted to cross outside of the designated crossing area, according to Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn.

The northbound train was a limited stop train traveling from San Jose to San Francisco that was not scheduled to stop in South San Francisco, Dunn said.

The man survived, and emergency personnel took him by ambulance to the hospital, according to Dunn.

Caltrain experienced delays of up to an hour Monday night after a train struck a pedestrian in South San Francisco earlier this evening.

The train struck a male pedestrian at around 6 p.m. just south of the South San Francisco station, Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn said.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital and his condition was not immediately known, Dunn said.

Trains were stopped in both directions for about an hour after the accident and residual delays of up to an hour continue in both directions tonight, Dunn said.
