Body Found On Palmetto Avenue; Police Say Death Does Not Appear Criminal

Police responded to a report of a "man down" about 10:20 p.m. Wednesday.

found a dead man on Palmetto Avenue yesterday about 10:20 p.m.

The body was found on the 1300 block of Palmetto Avenue after officers responded to a report of a "man down" at that location. The 59-year-old man was dead when police and North County Fire Authority units arrived, Pacifica Police Seargent Dave Barranti said. 

A portion of Palmetto was blocked off as officers conducted an on-scene investigation into the death. The San Mateo Coroner's Office was contacted and arrived to assist.

At the conclusion of the investigation, the circumstances of the man's death did not appear to be criminal, said Barranti. 

The Coroner's Office took possession of the body for further investigation.

Police have not released the man's identity because they are notifying next of kin, officers said. 

The investigation is continuing by Pacifica Police Department and San Mateo County Coroner’s Office.
